Feeding styles are tools, not rules. What matters is calm mealtimes, safe textures, and watching your baby.
Spoon feeding Useful for runny first foods like ragi porridge, rice kanji or dal water. You offer, they decide how much to take.
Self feeding Soft strips and mash they can hold — banana fingers, soft idli pieces, steamed carrot. Builds confidence and motor skills.
Mixing both Many parents start with spoons, then add finger foods as chewing gets stronger. That is fine.
A little note: Always sit with them. Skip honey, whole nuts and hard rounds under 1 year.
