A one-pot meal of rice and moong dal, cooked until it almost melts. Ideal once your baby is used to single foods. No special products needed — just pantry staples.
What you need • 2 tbsp rice • 1 tbsp moong dal (yellow or green, washed well) • 1 cup water (add more if needed) • A drop of ghee (optional, if your paediatrician is fine with it)
How to make it
- Wash the rice and dal until the water runs clearer.
- Pressure cook for 3–4 whistles, or simmer in a pot until very soft.
- Mash with the back of a spoon. Add warm water to loosen if needed.
- Cool to lukewarm before serving.
A little tip: Keep it plain at first. Spices, salt and chilli can wait.
